Runivation

Runivation offers a great opportunity to stay motivated while achieving a goal in sports. Our product is primarily designed for runners who often have difficulty in engaging themselves for continuous training or also to support the training process in general. Through Runivation, we want to create a pleasant experience helping to achieve your aims by involving friends and family as well as giving you the opportunity to visualize your progress.

Runivation consists of two products. One is an armlet, the other one is an interactive training board. Both are synchronized with each other and are able to display your training progress in color. First, the board is configured by creating a profile and defining a goal, such as training for a marathon, i.e. being able to run about 42 km at a stretch.

Afterwards, the training can be started. For this purpose the armlet must be worn while running, in order to track time and distance. Progress made by the user over time is indicated by the color of the armlet, which means that the color adapts accordingly to the training progress. That way it is possible to also show other runners your efforts. Furthermore, the training board at home always glows in the same color as the armlet is currently displaying and additionally shows a progress bar until the goal is reached.

However, the color transformation is not the only feature that Runivation provides. The user also has the possibility to share the goal with friends and family via a share function on the training board. Using a web interface, friends and family members can then enter rewards via text or speech messages that will be released when the user reaches certain milestones. On the progress bar at the training board, the user can thus check when the rewards will be available. This is intended to further motivate the user to continue training. If, however, the user does experience a low level of motivation during a training session, the armlet is also equipped with a voice function reminding the user when the next reward is waiting for him or her.

Once the reward is reached through further training, the armlet is then able to directly announce the reward via a voice output during running, e.g. “Hey Lea, you made it, I’ll invite you to dinner at the weekend!“ This serves as direct, motivating feedback during the training session. Rewards that have already been released can also be relistened or reviewed at any time in the training board.

Through Runivation, the user remains motivated and can thus achieve his self-set goal through continual, enjoyable training!
